Mechanism of Action:The action of salbutamol is due to binding to beta2-adrenoceptors in the ventricular myocardium. When beta2-adrenoceptors are blocked, the resulting relaxation of the ventricles causes the filling of a gap, known as a mitral valve. The valve is then opened and a ventricular filling is achieved.
Pharmacological Profile:Salbutamol is a selective beta2-adrenoceptor agonist. It acts by binding to the beta2-receptors on the ventricular surface. When this binding is blocked, the ventricles relax and widen and this action of salbutamol is due to the beta2-receptor.
For the treatment of heart failure in patients with pre-existing left ventricular failure. (In patients with ventricular tachycardia) Use with caution during cardiac catheterization. (In patients with heart failure) In patients receiving oral therapy with salbutamol. Ventolin Evohaler is indicated for the treatment of patients with left ventricular dysfunction and ventricular arrhythmias. It should be noted that in patients with heart failure, salbutamol is not recommended for use during coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
It acts by binding to the beta2-receptor on the ventricular surface.

For the first time, Ventolin inhalers are no longer being prescribed for patients with asthma. In an update to the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the Ventolin inhalers were again the only treatment to be available for asthma in the UK.
However, Ventolin is now not being available on the NHS and the Ventolin asthma treatment was only for patients with an active condition known as an asthma attack.
The MHRA says the MHRA is aware of the issue and the NHS believes that it can work around the issue, although they are still not aware of the specific conditions being diagnosed.
It says: "We are working to ensure that our Ventolin inhalers can be used as a first-line treatment for a range of patients with asthma, but we remain confident that our patients have access to a suitable treatment option for them and that they can be treated privately.
They will be referred to a specialist asthma clinic to discuss their asthma symptoms and ensure the treatments are suitable for them.
While the MHRA says the NHS is fully funded, it has made changes to the treatment guidelines for all patients in order to make sure patients are given the right treatment.
The guidance says: "It will be important for patients to receive an accurate diagnosis of their asthma and to continue treatment with Ventolin inhalers and inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) if they have been diagnosed with an asthma attack.
The guidance also says that if they are unable to receive their current treatment, they should be referred to a specialist asthma clinic.
It says: "The MHRA recommends that patients who have asthma and have been diagnosed with an asthma attack should be referred to a specialist asthma clinic where they can receive appropriate management and treatment.
In the context of this new advice, the MHRA says the advice is also being updated in line with the guidance and the MHRA's guidance on treatment.

Ventolin HFA 100micrograms
For the treatment of excessive asthma and other respiratory symptoms caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Ventolin HFA 100 micrograms may be used alone or in combination with other bronchodilators. In addition to the use of Ventolin HFA 100 micrograms in patients with severe acute asthma (short-term or long-term), Ventolin HFA 100 micrograms may also be used for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The change is only for people who have previously been prescribed Ventolin and are still taking it. Please be aware that MAL can take longer to start working if you are prescribed it.
